i am wondering the implications of having children with a man this age.
i have done a lot of research on this topic and there are suggestions of problems associated with the children however i have also met a lot of older men who have
fathered children to younger wives and they don't complain of any problems at all (yet).
how real is the likely hood of an abnormal child and what can we do to improve this situation?
should we get his sperm checked for quality and mobility? what can we test for when pregnant?Older fathers - can anyone offer any advice or personal experiences?
I am 34, my hubby is 44. He is worried that he is getting too old. I told him he could have viable sperm up through his 70s at least.
Dont worry about it. If it happens it happens.. THe only thing is how much interaction will he have with the child. ?
But sometimes when a parent is a bit older and more settled, they can actually be really great and calm with a child... everyone is different.Older fathers - can anyone offer any advice or personal experiences?
my dad divorced my mom, remarried a younger woman (in her 30s) while he was in his 50s, and had a son (my half-brother) when he was nearing 60. My half-brother is the cutest, most quick-witted child I know.
My dad is also a diabetic, had cholesterol problems, skin conditions, and now has terminal cancer. but the kid is in perfect health, and rarely gets sick.
It can happen. :)
this is something you werent really asking about but what about the potential children here? Best case scenario you get pregnant now, hes 50/51 at birth of child that makes him almost 70 years old when the baby graduates HS. Why would you want this? Kinda seems too old to be considering having a child to me. Just because of that and the fact that they would get to have a father for very long cause he literally will die about the same time they grow up (midtwenties)
My boss was 42 when his wife had twins, there 3rd %26amp; 4th kids. As long as he is ok w/ it, then good luck. You may need to check his fertility if you don't get pregnant w/in 6-8 months. My boss says he worries that he won't make it to see his grand kids, but his parents are in their early 70's and going strong, look at his family members longevity and help him to stop smoking and cut back on the boose.
