As a college instructor, let me offer you these helpful tips.

1) Present a good sense of who you are as a person. We like to know something about your character to see if you'll fit in with our other students, staff, and faculty

2) Focus on how serious a student you've been, are now, and will be. Colleges and universities like to know that you take your studies seriously. In other words, we don't want someone who's only there because they like the notion of having a college degree.

In other words, we want students who enjoy learning, want to learn and grow, and see the benefits to improving your level of education! And it helps to be specific whenever possible. In other word, instead of saying you're serious, give an example to demonstrate it. ';The proof is in the pudding!';

3) Mention any extracurricular activities that you feel are relevant in some way. And connect the dots so we can see how those extracurricular activities have helped you. In other word, we aren't interested in your simply having fun! We want to see you've gotten something more substantial out of it--developed critical skills and/or character.

4) Include any relevant work experience. You can talk about how you've developed your professional character and attitudes. Or have some actual experience in what you plan on studying, even if it's limited. And if you've done really good work on the job, tell me about it!

5) Make sure it looks and sounds like a college student. In other words, you're an adult now, so write like one! That means being professional, checking grammar and spelling, and using a wider vocabulary.

6) Organize it well! Make sure everything flows nicely from one sentence and paragraph to the next. And that it's arranged in a logical order.

7) Remember your mission: To convince us you're college material! Lots of people want to come to us, but not everyone deserves to. You need to convince us why we should consider you for admissions. And that means convincing us you're worth our time, money, and resources. Hit all 3 of these.Personal Statement Advice?
start off writing about your current position. so what you're studying and where, predicted grades, favourite subjects and why. what you want to study and why, and why you're suitable for that course of study. also important, why you've picked that particular university (so must be changed for each university!).

then write about past studies, so gcse's, extracurricular courses, how you get on at school, any responsibilities given eg headgirl, house captain etc.

lastly write about your personal self. so what you enjoy - music, art, theatre usually go down well. sports teams, hobbies. any volunteering, work experience. languages. travelling.
1 Be honest and yourself

2-showcase what you have done in your school and your communty in your personal statement

3-DONT try to use 50cent words when a nickle word will do

best of luck
