Need some advice (Personal exp. would be helpful!)?

I'm currently in college, trying to transfer into the Nursing major. I havent heard back from them but i have a feeling i am rejected at this point (I just transfered to the school %26amp; it is really competetive.) I was thinking of changing my major again to maybe medical tech. (Hematology tech. really) or maybe even doing a Medical Assisting major. Should i try to stick to nursing? or would these other options also be good. I want to make money when i'm out, but i also want to help people. I understand neither of those options = the pay of a nurse, but i basically don't want to be broke for the rest of my life.

Anyone have any ideas? Advice? Personal Experience in these fields? Any advice would be awesome! I think i could squeeze into the nursing major but not by the standards i want to (my uncle knows the dean..haha!)

Thanks in advance!Need some advice (Personal exp. would be helpful!)?
Have you ever gotten career counseling? If not, you really ought to go to the student services office at your college and get started in the process immediately.

See, nobody here can get with you one-on-one, administer the right tests, and get to know you well enough to offer career counseling advice.

Maybe nursing is for you. Or maybe another equivalent health care field, like radiologic technology, licensed physician's assistant, etc. Or possibly you really need to get into an entirely different line of work like internet security or metallurgy :-)

Note that there are lots of jobs that pay salaries equivalent to nurses', and many of them involve helping people. So the big question is, what would fulfill you in the non-monetary ways? There's a big demand for air traffic controllers, you know, and they make great money. There's always a need for liquid materials welders (the people who repair leaks in oil and gas pipelines, in the arctic or in Iraq or undersea). Both of those jobs can pay more than nursing--but would you love to do them?

And if career development comes back to you with ';nursing'; then get your uncle to pull those strings!Need some advice (Personal exp. would be helpful!)?
My mother is a Nurse and from what I know you would have much better success in life and income potential with a full nursing degree. ';Assisting'; and ';Tech'; degrees are often easier to achieve but do not afford the same income potential as a full nursing degree. Nurses are in demand and always will be. Do what you need to do but its my advice that if you are going to do it... do it all the way! You will have many more options in life with a full nursing degree. You will also have the best opportunity to help people in this position.

Hope this helps!
